Hi, there! My name is Daniela Gîfu. I graduated the Faculty of Physics at the „Alexandru-Ioan Cuza” University of Iași (UAIC), Romania. After that, I decided to spend some time in the West part of Romania, more precisely, Cluj-Napoca. For a while, I worked in the cultural field, being involved in the political life of the zone, as well. Shortly, after my migration to Cluj-Napoca, in 2002, I decided to continue my studies, this time in a complementary field.

Senior Researcher II - Writer & Journalist

I enrolled in the „Communication and Public Relations” Master program, at the Political and Administrative National School of Bucharest. After graduating from the Master programme, I became a PhD Student at the Faculty of Philosophy, UAIC Iași, under the supervision of prof. dr. Laurențiu Șoitu. My PhD Thesis, defended on March, 2010, being focused on the Political Discourse Analysis (PDA): creating a Romanian PDA resource, developing a language-independent PDA tool and applying it to several Natural Language Processing (NLP) steps. Then, I continued with postdoctoral studies, at the same University, during which time I discovered the fascination of the Artificial Intelligence.

In September 2013, under the supervision of prof. dr. Dan Cristea and acad. Dan Tufiș, I attempted to follow a complex and audacious research project that covers the Romanian language both on a horizontal dimension, on the area, and a vertical one, on time. In September 2016, I obtained a second PhD in Computer Science. For the moment, I am a Scientific Researcher II at the Institute of Computer Science, Romanian Academy – Iași branch & at the Faculty of Computer Science, UAIC. Also, I am an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economy, depart. Computer Science, "Petre Andrei" University of Iași & at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology (UMFST) of Târgu Mureş, Romania. My work, at these institutions, covers several topics around computational linguistics and NLP, applied in different scenarios.
